Ryan R. Kuhlmann

Admitted to bar, 2007, Minnesota; 2009, U.S. District Court, District of Minnesota; 2011, U.S. Court of Appeals, Eighth Circuit. Education: University of Minnesota Law School (J.D., 2007); University of Iowa (B.B.A., Finance, with Honors and with Distinction, 2002).

Ryan joined Chamberlain Law Firm as a law clerk in 2006, and has practiced as an attorney with the firm since earning his J.D. from the University of Minnesota Law School in 2007. Additionally, Ryan possesses business experience gained in banking and finance before becoming an attorney. This is not only uncommon among lawyers, but is also an asset when analyzing business problems and transactions. This background helps Ryan contribute to the firm’s mission to thoroughly understand and address our clients’ needs—not only from a legal standpoint, but also with a practical, businesslike approach.

Much of an attorney’s success depends on legal writing ability. Judges largely depend on written briefs in deciding cases, and any contract or estate plan must be well written. Ryan has substantial legal writing experience that includes drafting contracts, motion briefs, trial memorandums, appellate briefs, and petitions to the Minnesota Supreme Court.

Ryan also has experience representing clients in contested motions, trials and appeals. The Chamberlain Law Firm team takes pride in producing well-crafted legal documents through collaboration and attention to detail—whether it is in the context of a business transaction, estate planning, or developing strategic and persuasive legal arguments in litigation.
